Why convert this way?
Different devices and platforms favor different video containers — iPhones default to MOV, older camcorders use AVI, many downloads come as MKV. MP4 is the one format almost everything plays without complaint.
How Fyleon does it
Fyleon remuxes or re-encodes (depending on the source codec) your video to MP4 using an in-browser FFmpeg build, keeping your file local for anything under 400MB. For files under 400MB, nothing is uploaded anywhere; the file never leaves your computer. Larger files route through Fyleon's dedicated cloud pipeline, billed against your plan's own monthly quota before any one-time charge applies.
Step-by-step
- Open the Convert Video tool and sign in (or create a free account — it takes a few seconds).
- Drop your MOV, MKV, or AVI file onto the upload area, or click to browse for it.
- Wait while the browser processes the file locally.
- Download the resulting MP4 directly to your device.
A note on this conversion
When the source codec is already compatible with MP4's container, Fyleon can remux without re-encoding, which is much faster and lossless. Less common codecs may require a full re-encode, which takes longer.
Files processed locally never touch Fyleon's servers, so a file with sensitive or confidential content never leaves your device.
