Why convert this way?
AVI is an older container format that a lot of modern devices simply don't support well, if at all. Converting to MP4 makes old video clips playable again on current hardware.
How Fyleon does it
Fyleon decodes your AVI file and re-encodes it to MP4 using an in-browser FFmpeg build, with no upload required for files under 400MB. For files under 400MB, nothing is uploaded anywhere; the file never leaves your computer. Larger files route through Fyleon's dedicated cloud pipeline, billed against your plan's own monthly quota before any one-time charge applies.
Step-by-step
- Open the Convert Video tool and sign in (or create a free account — it takes a few seconds).
- Drop your .avi file onto the upload area, or click to browse for it.
- Wait while the browser converts the file locally.
- Download the resulting MP4 directly to your device.
A note on this conversion
Very old or unusual AVI codecs may take longer to re-encode than modern ones, since the browser has to fully decode and re-encode the video rather than just repackaging it.
Files processed locally never touch Fyleon's servers, so a file with sensitive or confidential content never leaves your device.
