Why convert this way?
Sometimes all you actually need from a video is the sound — a lecture recording, a podcast episode, a music video. Extracting just the audio track skips carrying around the much larger video file.
How Fyleon does it
Fyleon strips the audio stream out of your MP4 and encodes it to MP3 locally in your browser, using an in-browser FFmpeg build. For files under 400MB, nothing is uploaded anywhere; the file never leaves your computer. Larger files route through Fyleon's dedicated cloud pipeline, billed against your plan's own monthly quota before any one-time charge applies.
Step-by-step
- Open the Audio Format Switcher tool and sign in (or create a free account — it takes a few seconds).
- Drop your MP4 file onto the upload area, or click to browse for it.
- Choose MP3 as your output format and set a bitrate.
- Download the extracted audio file directly to your device.
A note on this conversion
The audio quality can only be as good as what was encoded into the source video — extraction doesn't add fidelity that wasn't already there.
Files processed locally never touch Fyleon's servers, so a file with sensitive or confidential content never leaves your device.
